Factionalism begins in Congress with the formation of Rajasthan
Most of the leaders were against Hiralal Shastri, who was made the first Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Hiralal Shastri had the support of the then Home Minister Sardar Patel.

For this reason, he got the opportunity to become the first Chief Minister. He had to be removed later due to opposition from Hiralal Shastri. With the foundation of Rajasthan, factionalism started in Congress.

Factionalism and strife continued to grow :

  • With the laying of the foundation of Rajasthan on March 30, 1949, the differences in the Congress deepened. Rajasthan: Congress leaders had a dispute on the day of the inauguration of Rajasthan, angry with the kings, and there was a dispute.
  • Congress leaders were against Hiralal Shastri being made the first chief minister. Congress leaders Jaynarayan Vyas and Manikyalal Verma were in favour.
  • Heeralal Shastri was accused of entering into an agreement with the princely state of Jaipur during the Quit India Movement, due to which Congress leaders were not ready to accept him as chief minister. Maharaja Sawai Man Singh was the head of Rajasthan till October 1956.

At the inauguration of Greater Rajasthan, the then Maharaja Sawai Man Singh of Jaipur was sworn in as the head of the state and Maharao Bhim Singh of Kota as the deputy head of the state. After this, Raj Chief Sawai Man Singh administered the oath of office to Hiralal Shastri as the first Prime Minister of Rajasthan.

Jaipur became the capital of Rajasthan due to the condition of Sawai Man Singh :

The kings of the large princely states had laid down their own conditions regarding the merger, some of which were considered. Sawai Man Singh, the then ruler of Jaipur, had placed five conditions before the State Ministry.

Jaipur became the capital of Rajasthan due to this condition that Congress leaders were angry with sitting behind the kings. Sardar Patel intervened and formed a committee, which recommended making Jaipur the capital.
